SJCBI welcomes new College Chaplain

A servant out of love, Fr. Brien Mark Cue Catabay, is yet again chosen to be the Lord’s heart within the office of the campus ministry. “The Lord set his heart on you and chosen you” (Dt. 7:7), his motto during his priestly ordination, is the best way to describe his service.

Rev. Fr. Brien Mark Catabay, newly appointed College Chaplain and parish priest of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish

“The Chaplaincy is another extension of my calling, another channel to manifest my priesthood, a gift of Love from God,” he said.

The new chaplain hails from Cataggaman Viejo, Tuguegarao City. He is currently the parish priest of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish at Tallang, Baggao. Fr. Brien has been in the priesthood for nine years.  Through his priestly ministry, he had served as a parochial vicar, a spiritual director, a prefect of discipline, an instructor, a school director, and now the new Chaplain of SJCBI.

The Campus Ministry, the center of evangelization within the campus, is indeed blessed with a new steward. Fr. Brien is known to be a humble and compassionate priest but firm in conviction to uphold the truth of the Gospel. Bearing the virtues of both humility and fortitude, he is ready to enforce the duties of the ministry, inspiring students to involve themselves to share their talents and gifts, to be a witness of Christ and uphold the Gospel values, and actively participate in their mission as Baptised Christians.

“Praise the Lord not just with our lips but also with our good deeds,” he said in a speech during a Marian Feast.

“More than words.” This is what he emphasizes as the true meaning of ministry, declaring programs that do not only inspire but must also set fire to the heart of every student to act and involve themselves in the work of God. Full of hope and aspirations, he considers this new office as a grace from God.
