SJCBI Teachers attend 2-day seminar training on Bamboo Propagation

Saint Joseph’s College of Baggao teachers attended the 2-day seminar training on Bamboo Propagation at SJCBI Calungsod Hall last September 2 and 3.

The event was initiated by the Local Government Unit of Baggao through the office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer in line with the celebration of the Season of Creation.

The objectives of the seminar are to orient the people on the importance of the bamboo trees especially for furniture and other specialized use. It also aimed to discuss the brief background on ecological system and managing of bamboo plantation. On the other hand, the MENRO Designate, Mr. Frederick Thomas reiterated the main objectives of the One Billion Tree Planting Project to restore and reboot the forest and bring back to its normal view.

During the seminar, Mayor Joan Dunuan also expressed her heartfelt thanks to the whole Administrators, Faculty and staff of the school for supporting the One Billion Tree Planting and Bamboo Propagation. She further exclaimed that planting trees will help Baggao clean and green.

Furthermore, the 2-day training seminar is focused on Bamboo Propagation and Verme-composting which the school aims to share to her students. The school is also looking forward for the allocated area where they can grow trees as their contribution to the adopt riverbank program of LGU Baggao and eyeing at the riparian area of Barangay Tananguinet where they can plant bamboo tress on September 25.
