DESCRIPTION
As a Catholic Institution of Learning, Saint Joseph’s College of Baggao, Inc. is committed to develop the whole person based on Catholic Faith and Morals through excellent instruction, innovative and creative research and responsive community engagement.
The Saint Joseph’s College of Baggao, Inc. Integral Development Program is an extension service of the school which endeavors to work for total human development specially among the deprived, vulnerable, and underserved communities by means of values formation, leadership and skills training, basic literacy, health education and information, livelihood and income-generating projects, care and protection of the integrity of creation and community building. It participates in the life and mission of the parish by vigorously promoting the fostering of Basic Ecclesial Communities or BECs as a concretization of a renewed Church.
Goals & Objectives
FOR JOSEPHIANS
A. to raise the level of the social awareness of students, faculty, non-teaching staff and the administration regarding the condition of life of the people in the community;
B. To be more involved in the integral development of the adopted barangays as well as in their respective barangays;
C. To be imbued with the gospel values to inspire them to unselfishly serve and uplift the living conditions of the vulnerable poor in the community; and
D. To learn the value of “damayan, bayanihan and pakikipag-kapwa tao” for total community development.
FOR THE ADOPTED BARANGAYS
A. To discover and develop the necessary knowledge, values and skills needed to manage the development of their own community;
B. To empower them to fulfill their goals and objectives for their total human development
C.To provide training and formation for livelihood and income-generating projects to augment their family income and uplift their economic status; and
D. To build a praying, learning and serving community of Christians (BECs)
Programs & Activities
A. SKILLS TRAINING AND LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM
- Planting of vegetables and other crops in their own backyard
- Guiding and helping them in putting up a small business by teaching them how to make products that can be easily done and can be easily sold
- Giving of trainings, and seminars needed by them
B. LITERACY AND COMPETENCE PROGRAM/ COMPUTER LITERACY
- Training out-of-school youth
- Teaching them the Basic Principles of Education
- Teaching them the skills on the use of Computer/technology
C. SPIRITUAL PROGRAM
- Family and Community Catechism
- Recollections and Retreats
- Regular Masses
- Forming Basic Ecclesial Communities
- Prayer Meetings and Bible Service or Sharing
D. COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAM
- Teach them the value of clean, safe and healthy surroundings and to care and protect the environment as a Christian duty.
- Information dissemination on health program
- Seminars on Primary Health Care, Herbal medicines, Health and sanitation
- Medical and Dental Missions
E. ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM
- Tree Planting and Reforestation Program
- Helping them clean their surrounding
- Teach them the proper way of waste segregation and disposal
- Conduct seminars on organic farming
F. ADOPT-A-SCHOOL PROGRAM
- Basic Catechism
