Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT)
Program Aims (PAs)
The BSIT program aims to:
- Provide students with a coherent body of knowledge on web and applications development, database administration, systems administration, network management, information security, and computer programming.
- Develop the students’ critical thinking abilities to design, implement and evaluate computer based systems, processes, components or programs to meet desired needs and requirements under various constraints;
- Equip the students with skills to apply knowledge of computing science, and mathematics appropriate to the discipline as well as analyze complex problems, identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to their solution.
- Prepare the students for lifelong-learning by stimulating their interests, upgrading their skills and encouraging autonomous learning; and,
- Produce IT professionals who are ever mindful of the Josephian’s values of faith, communion and service.

Upon completion of the program, the graduates should be able to:
A1.Display ability to apply knowledge of computing science, and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.
A2. Show competence in the utilization of both hardware and software information technology infrastructure.
A3. Analyze user needs and consider them during the selection, integration, and administration of computer-based systems.
- Application
Upon completion of the program, the graduates should be able to:
B1.Demonsrate and analyze user needs and take them into account in the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of computer-based systems.
B2. Design and develop a program based on a given specification.
B3.Perform usability and evaluation on best practices and standards in information technology and their applications.
- Degree of Independence
Upon completion of the program, the graduates should be able to:
C1. Work effectively and collaboratively with a substantial degree of independence in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams, and act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility.
C2. Function effectively as a member or leaders of a development team recognizing the different roles within a team to accomplish a common goal.
C3. Apply design techniques and appropriate methodologies to develop IT systems and components to meet stakeholder requirements.
